In the opening series of the summer, West Indies were put into bat by England which proved to be the right decision with the destructive duo of Broad and his trusted bowling partnership with James Anderson.
After Anderson had picked up two early wickets, Broad showed his class in dismissing Adrian Barath, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Sammy, Kemar Roach, Fidel Edwards and Shannon Gabriel for only 42 runs to claim his first Honours Boards spot of the match.
During West Indies’ second innings, Broad picked- up a further four wickets to leave England needing a total of 191 runs to complete victory and see his overall figures tally as 11 wickets for 165 runs across two innings.
England would go on to comfortably achieve their target to seal victory and there was little surprise when Broad was named as the man-of-the-match for his devastating display with the ball.
