After England had posted a below average score of 216 in their first innings, Willis was required to take early wickets in their persuit of recovering the Test.
Australia were 135-2 when Willis grabbed his first wicket with Greg Chappell being dismissed for 66 with Chris Old taking the catch.
Once Willis removed Chris Serjeant, the tall fast bowler was on a rampage, claiming the wickets of Doug Walters, Rod Marsh, Kerry O'Keeffe, Max Walker and Jeff Thomson as Australia finished with a score of 296.
The match eventually finished as a Draw, but for Willis it was a special moment as he earned his first place on the iconic Honours Boards.
