After India had won the toss and electing to field, the pressure was on for the India bowling department to deliver.
However, despite taking the early wickets of Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook, Zaheer Khan picked up an injury leaving Kumar and the rest of India’s bowling attack to try and restrict England to a poor total.
Unfortunately for the tourists, Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott were on fine form to prevent India from gaining an advantage but nonetheless, Kumar impressed, removing Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior, Stuart Broad and Trott, to earn a spot on the Honours Boards.
The result would eventually be a comfortable victory in the end for England, who claimed the win by 196 runs but for Kumar, his name was now forever etched in Lord’s history.
