Michael Slater made the Honours Boards in 1993, with a man-of-the-match performance against England.

With Australia batting first, Mark Taylor and Slater, in just his third Test, made their way to the middle with the aim of getting the visitors off to a dominant start.

Slater took charge as he started crashing the ball to the boundary rope in his elegant and powerful manor. With Taylor also finding the middle of the bat, it wasn’t long until both batsmen had bought up their hundreds.

England didn’t seem to have any answers for Slater as he brought up his 150. Thankfully for the hosts, Slater was dismissed shortly after for a magnificent 152. However the damaged was already done.

With Australia declaring on 632, England had an almighty job to try save the test match.

However, Australia’s angry fast bowlers were on top form and England were bowled out for 205, needing 427 following-on to meet the Aussie’s mammoth first innings total.

It proved to be too much for England as they were bowled out 62 runs short as Australia convincingly sealed victory.
