The wicket-keeper arrived at the crease with the hosts 363/5 and took advantage of a tiring West Indies attack by scoring 19 fours in an innings that saw Prior only faced 128 balls by the time England declared, as he joined John Hampshire and Andrew Strauss in claiming a spot on the famous boards on debut.
Prior, who shared an unbroken partnership of 190 with Ian Bell, would ironically not take any catches behind the stumps as the match petered out to a draw with weather proving a nuisance for England.
In a lively Test match, Prior was one of five batsmen to score a century during the match with Bell, Alastair Cook, Paul Collingwood and Kevin Pietersen also adding their names to the history books at Lord’s.
