Perhaps remembered more for his spinning abilities, Mankad actually posted a decent total with the bat too, and during this Test opened for his country.
After hitting 72 in the first innings, Mankad claimed his first place on the Honours Boards with a five-wicket haul but couldn't prevent England posting a healthy total of 537.
This gave India a huge task to try and build a lead in their second innings, but Mankad tried his best with a sublime century.
His 184 saw him on the crease for 270 minutes, hitting 19 fours and one six, to guide India to total of 378 all out with a slender lead of 77.
England managed to achieve that target within 50 overs to seal victory by eight wickets.
However, Mankad's performance saw him become the only visiting Test player to produce Honours Board performances with bat and ball in the same Test Match.
