India were put into bat by the hosts but could only make a score of 147 all out with Sir Gubby Allen taking a five-wicket haul.
In response, India were excellent themselves with the ball and Singh in particular was an impressive figure.
He took the wickets of Harold Gimblett, Maurice Turnbull, Arthur Mitchell, Bob Wyatt, Maurice Leyland and Allen as England could only score a total of 134 in their first innings.
Nevertheless, after India posted a second innings score of 93 all out, England were victorious having comfortably chased down 107 runs in their final innings.
While India may not have been winners during the Test, Singh’s place in Lord’s history will forever remain.
