Williamson became the 13th New Zealand batsman on the Boards having been 92 not out over night and the milestone was reached with a steer down to third man eight minutes into play on the third day.
The century was the first for the then 24-year-old in England, having missed out on reaching the Honours Boards last time New Zealand toured England, back in 2013, when he was dismissed for 60 and 6 respectively.
Williamson scored 15 fours during his memorable knock for New Zealand, facing 262 balls in the process as his side concluded their first innings 523 all out.
Unfortunately for Williamson and his side, the total proved to be not enough England managed to pull it back and win the dramatic Test at the end of Day Five by 124 runs.
