When captain Wasim Akram won the toss and elected to bat, there was pressure on the Pakistan batsmen to deliver early in the Test.
However, the early dismissals of Aamer Sohail and Ijaz Ahmed left the visitors 12-2 with Inzamam now at the crease hoping to bring his side back into the Test.
Putting on a stand of 130 with opener Saeed Anwar, Inzamam was on superb form, being eventually removed for 148, with Pakistan’s total now reading 267-7.
Inzamam’s knock saw him hit 18 fours and one six, as Pakistan reached a total of 340 all out in their first innings.
After the runs from Inzamam helped Pakistan establish a good score, he added a further score of 76 in the second innings to lead his side to a 164-run victory inside five tough days at Lord’s.
