West Indies' first innings saw them only manage a total of 245 with Ian Botham taking an eight-wicket haul.
By the time England declared their second innings on 300/9, it seemed a tough ask for the visitors to reach the desired target of 342 runs to secure victory.
However, Greenidge showed why he was one of the world's best openers, hitting an outstanding double century in an innings that saw him face only 242 balls, hitting 29 fours and two sixes to leave England stunned.
Greenidge's knock helped West Indies reach the target off 66 overs to secure one of the most famous historic and memorable victories seen at Lord's.
